Two new bright yellow signs have shown up at each end of the Kettleby Road cautioning visitors that there are no sidewalks in the hamlet and to be on the lookout for pedestrians. In fact, there are rudimentary stretches of what appear to be narrow sidewalks ( in some places cement, others ashphalt). These patches of narrow pedestrian pathways have been in place from the last century into this century. They've been trod upon for decades and decades and decades. They are often uneven, hazardously sloping and downright dangerous, especially when covered with snow or ice. In many places, at other times, what appears to be a bit of pavement turns into a watercourse during rainstorms. The new signs (pictured above) seem to be long overdue afterthoughts, but cost-wise are a pittance compared to new concrete sidewalks on both sides of the road, from one end of Kettleby to the other. Come to think of it, I haven't heard of any demands for such an upgrade...ever! Maybe I'll just mind my own business and get back to raking the leaves.
