Cold Creek barn gets needed repairs

English wheat barn ~ 160+ years old

The English wheat barn at Cold Creek Conservation Area has finally received long-awaited repairs, in the form of extensive replacement of damaged wood board cladding.   The appearance is a bit jarring to some viewers as not all the boards were replaced and there is a distinct colour contrast between the new boards and the retained old boards which were still viable.   Painting is to follow, I'm told.   In addition to the repairs to the iconic wheat barn, several birdhouses have been renewed also, which will make things a little more secure for the springtime residents such as Bluebirds, Tree Swallows, and House Wrens.
